Frequently asked questions

How buying, selling, KYC, fees and tax work on Finlaunch.

Buying

How does a purchase work?+

Pick a product and quantity, submit a request, and a Finlaunch specialist confirms price and availability with you. You pay by bank transfer (UPI, NEFT, IMPS or RTGS; no cash) and the shares are credited to your demat within two working days of payment.

Can I cancel a request?+

Yes, any time before payment. After payment the transfer is initiated and cannot be reversed.

Fees

What are the fees?+

The price you see is the price you pay. Our facilitation fee is built into the quoted price, and there are no separate brokerage or platform charges.

Getting started

What is Finlaunch?+

Finlaunch is a private-market platform where verified investors buy and sell shares of unlisted Indian companies (startups, growth-stage businesses and pre-IPO companies). Every company is verified by our team before it is listed.

Who can invest?+

Resident Indian individuals with a PAN, a demat account and a bank account. NRIs can invest through an NRO account; contact support before your first request.

Is there a minimum investment?+

Each product shows its minimum purchase quantity and price. There is no platform-wide minimum beyond that.

KYC

What documents do I need for KYC?+

Nothing at sign-up. When you place your first request we ask, once, for your PAN, your bank account and your demat statement (CML). It takes about two minutes and there is no waiting for approval.

Why do you need my demat details?+

Unlisted shares are transferred to your demat account off-market. We need your DP ID and client ID (from your Client Master List) to deliver them.

Safety

Is Finlaunch a stock broker or an exchange?+

No. Finlaunch is not a stock exchange, stock broker, investment adviser or research analyst. Unlisted shares are transferred off-market between consenting parties; Finlaunch facilitates the transaction and verifies the companies. Unlisted securities are illiquid and can lose value.

Selling

Can I sell shares I already hold?+

Yes. Use the Sell page to tell us the company, quantity and expected price. We confirm a price, you transfer the shares to the Finlaunch demat account, and the payment reaches your bank account within two working days.

Tax

How are unlisted shares taxed?+

Gains on unlisted shares held for more than 24 months are long-term capital gains, currently taxed at 12.5% without indexation; shorter holdings are taxed at your slab rate. Rules change; confirm with your chartered accountant.

Is there a lock-in after IPO?+

Shares bought before an IPO are typically locked in for six months after listing under the applicable listing rules. Each product page notes any known lock-in.
